SpikeLab is a personal blood sugar and meal log that helps you see which foods raise your blood sugar the most. It is designed so that your information stays on your iPhone. This page explains what the app handles and why.
Blood sugar readings, meals, carbohydrates, meal tags, insulin doses, medications, weight, notes and your target range are stored only on your device, in the app's local database. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else. You can export everything as a CSV file or delete it at any time from Settings > Delete all data, or by deleting the app.
If you turn on Sync with Apple Health, SpikeLab asks for permission to read and write three data types: blood glucose, body mass (weight) and insulin delivery. Data read from Apple Health is used only to show your readings, charts and reports inside the app. Data the app writes to Apple Health is only the values you log. HealthKit data never leaves your device through SpikeLab, is not stored in iCloud by the app, is not used for advertising or marketing, and is never shared with third parties. You can revoke access at any time in the Health app under Sharing > Apps > SpikeLab.
After-meal and morning reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are never sent from a server and never contain marketing. You can turn them off in the app or in iOS Settings.
On supported devices the weekly summary is written by Apple's on-device language model; on other devices it is generated by the app itself. In both cases your data is processed on your iPhone and is never sent to us or to any server.
Reports and CSV exports are generated on your device. They are shared only if you choose to share them, through the standard iOS share sheet, with the recipients you pick.
SpikeLab Premium is sold through Apple's App Store. Payments are processed entirely by Apple; we never see or store your payment details. Subscription status is checked on your device with Apple's StoreKit.
SpikeLab is a tracking tool for informational purposes only. It is not a medical device, does not measure blood glucose, and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or insulin or medication dosing. Always follow the instructions of your healthcare provider.
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date.
