Family Tree lets you build your family tree with names, dates, places, photos and notes. This page explains what the app handles and why.
The people you add (names, gender, dates and places of birth and death, occupation, notes, photos) and how they are related are stored only on your device and are not uploaded by the app. Photos are chosen with the iOS photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you select. You can delete a person in the app, delete a whole tree in Settings, or delete everything by deleting the app. If you export a poster (image or PDF) or a GEDCOM file, you choose where it goes; importing a GEDCOM file reads only the file you select.
A family tree contains information about your relatives. It stays on your device; please share exported files only with people your family would agree to.
The free version of Family Tree shows ads provided by Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising identifier (only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt), IP address, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent through Google's consent form before any ad loads, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings > Ad privacy choices. You can also turn off tracking in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Learn how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Buying Family Tree Pro or Remove Ads turns off all ads. Your family data is never used for advertising.
Family Tree Pro and Remove Ads are sold through Apple's App Store. Payments are processed entirely by Apple; we never see or store your payment details. Purchase status is checked on your device with Apple's StoreKit.
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date.
